PTFA

Welcome to the Cropthorne with Charlton First School
PTFA. We are a friendly group of dedicated volunteers
striving to raise funds for our fabulous school.

Last academic year we enjoyed some amazing events and
now we can look forward to more of the same in 2013/14.
Many exciting times have already been planned for our
children and parents. We do rely on the support of parents
and friends of the school to help us run events and as
government cuts continue our fundraising becomes more
and more important to the development of the school.

Our events are always lots of fun and combine events for
adults, children and families.

Last academic year was a very busy year and we enjoyed
some amazing day and evening events. Our fantastic
auction of promises in the Autumn Term was supported by
so many local businesses to whom we are very grateful.
We held our first Christmas bazaar and enjoyed mulled wine
and mince pies after the school nativity.

Our murder mystery evening was another huge success and
we are most grateful to the villagers and ex parents of the
school who wrote and performed it for us. The Walkabout in
May was sunny and warm this year, an improvement on the
last, and great fun was had by all at the school and in the
village festivities. We held our very first ‘Fun Run’ at this
years Walkabout and it was well attended and enjoyed by
the runners. Holly from HAC Lifestyles led a great warm up
on the school field to get everyone in the mood and then
they were off, running a 5km course around the villages of
Cropthorne and Charlton. Many thanks to Jo Johnson who
kindly devoted lots of time to organise the event.

With the fantastic summer we have enjoyed PTFA decided
to offer parents, grandparents and villagers with some
refreshments at The Sheppey for those warm Friday
afternoons. The children love playing on the wonderful play
equipment and on a Friday afternoon it is great to see them
play while enjoying tea, delicious cakes and ice creams as
an end of week treat. We have only ever asked for
donations to school and we have been overwhelmed with
the generosity of those who have enjoyed our cakes. This
summer the ‘Sheppey teas’ have raised over £500! Thanks
again to all those who have served tea and baked or bought
cakes to support us.

Our total fundraising efforts this year have helped the school
to extend and develop classrooms and outside working
areas. In total we raised over £6,000 in just one year.
2013 looks like it will be another exciting year in the PTFA
calendar. Many exciting events to come and lots of help
needed, even if just an hour to run a stall or bake a cake.
Our aim for this academic year is to purchase a ‘Pirate Ship’
for the playground. All the children will benefit from this new
equipment.

Please support our wonderful school and help our children
to continue with the inspiring opportunities the teachers offer.
We look forward to welcoming you to one of our events soon.
Keep an eye on the school notice board or ‘5Alive’ for our next event.
